Migration of all Handles under prefix 11858 on January 9th 2018 at 03:00 p.m. CET
we already announced the complete migration of the remaining Handles under prefix 11858 into dedicated 21.XXXXX prefixes that provide ePIC API Version 2 and/or the Handle API. The Handles under prefix 11858 remain resolvable all the time of course by a so called alias to their new administrative location.
This final migration is scheduled for January 9th at 03:00 p.m.
During and after this migration no direct changes of 11858-prefixed PIDs itsself will be possible anymore. First copies of the PIDs with 11858 to new PIDs under specific prefixes of the form 21.XXXXX (X for digit) are created during this migration. These new PIDs all keep their original suffix under their new prefix, which provides an easy mapping also on the client side. All necessary changes of the PIDs are possible after completion of the copy to the new PIDs, where the ePIC API Version 2 and/or the Handle API can be used then.
A couple of users are already provided with a dedicated 21.XXXXX prefix and corresponding user accounts for the respective instances of the ePIC API Version 2. Hence, their 11858 PIDs will be copied to their dedicated 21.XXXXX prefix. The 11858 PIDs for all other users will be copied to PIDs with the shared 21.11121 prefix.
The copying procedure will be followed by a mapping procedure whereby the 11858 PIDs will be modified, such that they point to its alias under their 21.XXXXX prefix. This ensures the resolvability of these PIDs during the whole migration process and of course afterwards.
The overall migration procedure is expected to be accomplished within at most three days, the maintainance of the PIDs is possible as soon as the newly mapped PID for the 11858 PID is available.
